Volunteering allows you to become an integral part of our community, you’re not just an observer; you’re an active participant in co-creating a unique psychedelic festival. Your contribution helps to shape the festival’s success and your efforts help create an immersive experience for attendees.

If your application is approved you will be informed by the 20th February 2024. 

To be considered for a volunteer role at Modem Teaser SA, you must meet the following criteria:

• Be 20 years of age or older.
• Be available to arrive at the festival site according to the requirements of the specific volunteering programme you have applied for.
• Be able to commit to the programme for the allocated days.
• Turn up to assigned shifts on time and in a fit state to carry out duties.
• Be outgoing, have good communication skills and initiative.
• Be responsible and take care while performing your duties.
  

In exchange for participating in a volunteer programme you will receive a complimentary festival ticket.

DETAILS OF VOLUNTEER PROGRAMMES:

1. PRE-FEST TEAM

(Tuesday 27th February – Friday 1st March 2024)
Volunteers in this programme will be involved in the final stage of pre-production and construction of the festival. This is perfect for people wanting to learn more about events and get involved with the build up. You will help in getting the festival site up and running and ensuring it is ready to welcome guests.

Tasks include, but are not limited to :

• Helping out with preparations such as painting, putting up venue signage etc.
• Moving materials and equipment where needed.
• Helping complete various installations.
• Cleaning up the festival site.
  
  

Requirements :

• Volunteers must arrive on-site latest by 10h00 on Tuesday 27th February 2024.
• Be able to follow instructions from the onsite manager
• Be positive and coordinate effectively with other volunteers.
• Be adaptable and proactive. 
• Be fit and not have any physical injuries.
   

In exchange for participating in the pre-fest program, you will receive :

• On-site meals for the days you volunteer.
• A symbol of appreciation in the form of drink tokens for during the event.
• Access to hot showers.
• Campsite area of your choice.
• Help and support with anything whilst you are on site.
  
  

2. GATE & CARE TEAM

(be available between Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd March 2024)
2 x 6-hour shifts, consisting of 1 x gate shift and 1 x care team shift.

We’ve decided to spice things up a bit and join 2 of our programmes. Volunteers in this programme play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth entry of festival attendees as well as helping maintain a safe, positive and enjoyable atmosphere at the festival, adding a unique and fulfilling dimension to the festival experience.

Gate Team Tasks : 

• Ticket scanning.
• Issuing wristbands.
• Helping to maintain an organised flow of people entering the festival grounds.
• Report any issues or discrepancies to the gate manager.
  
  

Care Team Tasks : 

• Campsite Patrol and Well-being Checks – checking on the well-being of attendees, helping everyone feel safe and comfortable.
• Reporting issues – volunteers are the eyes and ears on the ground, providing valuable information that allows managers to respond quickly and effectively.
• Answering questions from event attendees, providing information about the event, such as the locations of specific facilities, and addressing general questions.
  
  

Requirements :

• Pay R1100 cash deposit upon arrival to the festival. This is in order for us to ensure that you turn up on time and carry out the tasks delegated to you. In the past a number of applicants have accepted positions but then decided not to turn up or perform their duties. This puts unfair pressure on those who have turned up. You will receive your deposit back after both shifts are completed.
• Be available for your scheduled shifts.
• Follow instructions from the gate and festival managers.
• Coordinate effectively with other volunteers.
• Be approachable and friendly, creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere within the festival grounds.
• Be prepared to adapt to changing circumstances and assist with any unforeseen challenges that may arise.
• Understand the basic working environment of a festival.
